Nevada directed trustees
A Nevada directed trustee is a retail trust company acting as a directed fiduciary under an instrument that uses NRS 163.553–163.556 to give investment or distribution direction to a trust adviser. A retail license under NRS Chapter 669 alone is not directed-trust relief.
Editorial only. Not legal, tax, or investment advice. Statutes and licensee lists change — read the primary source and the date on each citation.
This landing currently includes 14 Nevada listings with a directed-trust field of directed trustee (13) or directed / mixed (1). The count is the size of that filtered collection, not an AUM figure and not a recommendation.
The role, not the license class
Nevada licenses retail trust companies under NRS Chapter 669. Directed-trust mechanics live in a different title: NRS 163.553–163.556. NRS 163.5548 defines when a fiduciary is a “directed fiduciary.” NRS 163.5549 limits liability for following a directing trust adviser and says the directed fiduciary is not required to perform an investment or suitability review of investments made by that adviser — if the governing instrument creates the adviser and the directed role.
The Nevada state file is the statute map. This landing is the role: companies already listed in The Trust File whose directedTrustFocus field is directed trustee or directed / mixed. The homepage domicile filter still shows every Nevada listing. Use both.
Regulator and list
The Nevada Financial Institutions Division (Department of Business and Industry) licenses retail trust companies. The official name list is the PDF Retail Trust Companies, dated 26 January 2026. Each Nevada listing in the table below cites that PDF. Retail companies under Chapter 669 are not family trust companies under Chapter 669A; do not read one as the other.
Charter requirements — not client protection
As restated on the Nevada state file from official statute text:
- NRS 669.100(1): no retail trust company may be organized or operated with stockholders’ equity of less than $1,000,000, or a greater amount the Commissioner requires
- NRS 669.083: a retail trust company must keep its principal office in Nevada, with a verifiable physical office and a resident employee with trust-administration experience
Those are statutory licensing requirements, not a client recovery table and not a comparison against South Dakota, Wyoming, or Delaware. Confirm the current statute and any higher requirement imposed on a specific licensee before you rely on a number.
What the table below is
Every row is generated at build time from the company collection: primary domicile Nevada, and directed-trust focus yes or partial. Names are not hardcoded. If a listing’s field changes, this page changes on the next build. A count of names is not an AUM figure and not a ranking.

Questions people actually ask
What is directed vs directed / mixed on a listing?
Directed trustee means the firm publishes a directed or administrative-trustee offering. Directed / mixed means the same charter can take that role but the public site also sells full discretion or in-house investment management. Neither pill is a statute package or a promise they will accept your instrument. See how to read a listing.
Where is the official list?
The Nevada Financial Institutions Division PDF titled Retail Trust Companies. The copy cited here is dated 26 January 2026; FID restates the list, so re-open the current file before an appointment. Names on the PDF appear in all-caps legal form. A Trust File listing is a sourced file, not a substitute for the FID list.
Is a family trust company on this page?
No. This landing reads retail trust companies licensed under NRS Chapter 669. Family trust companies are a separate regime under NRS Chapter 669A and are not listed here.
Can The Trust File recommend one of these companies?
No. This is a sourced directory, not a referral network and not fiduciary advice. The table below is every listed Nevada company whose directed-trust field is directed or directed/mixed, generated at build time. It is not a shortlist and not an endorsement.
